The Courage to Begin

Hey Beautiful!

I’m so grateful you’re here.

My prayer is that every time you stop by this little corner of the internet, you leave feeling a little more seen, a little more encouraged, a little more equipped, and a little more empowered to walk confidently in who God created you to be.

After the launch of Broken to Brave, I kept sensing God nudging me to create a place where I could continue sharing what He’s teaching me: the victories, the questions, the lessons, and the everyday moments where He faithfully meets me.

Whether we’re talking about faith, health, purpose, business, or the beautiful and sometimes messy journey of everyday life, my hope is that you’ll find biblical encouragement, practical wisdom, and simple steps to help you grow. I want this to be a place where you feel equipped to live with intention, empowered to take your next step, and reminded that you never have to walk the journey alone.

I am excited to finally welcome you to The Legacy Letters.  I’m so grateful you are here!

I would have gotten started with this letter sooner, but I wasn’t ready.  I needed to prepare myself, figure out a layout for each blog, decide what I was going to be writing about every week, and have everything perfect.  Obviously, that still isn’t done, because I will never have it all together!  Thankfully, a beautiful friend of mine, Melissa, mentioned that I just needed to get started and learn as I go.  So, here we go!

Actually, God keeps reminding me of that same thing.  I tend to think I need to have everything perfected before I begin something.  When deep down, I know that the only way to really be prepared for something new is by trial and error.

Think of toddlers learning how to walk.  They don’t wait until they know they aren’t going to fall before they take their first steps.  They are guaranteed to fall, but that is how they are able to perfect walking.  Trial and error.  Seeing what works and what doesn’t.  Making adjustments along the way and not doing the things that make them lose their balance.  It is the same concept we need when stepping out of our comfort zone to do something new.  Oftentimes, we aren’t going to be perfect on our first try.  We need to make adjustments and try several times again.  The more often we do something, the more comfortable we get.  This ends up being the new comfort zone that we need to work our way out of!

I am even more grateful for Melissa’s advice, now, as I write this.  Although I already knew this, I wasn’t putting it into practice.  I (just now actually) practiced this with starting these letters themselves.  My procrastination in waiting until I’m ready is an internal excuse for staying in my comfort zone.  Ouch.  You have to love that moment of self-discipline.

One thing I’ve already decided is that these letters won’t have a perfect formula.  They are going to be a compilation of what I am going through, what I am learning, what God is telling me, or where He guides me.  Now that I know that I don’t have to have all my ducks in a row, I am excited to begin! A little side note: I probably am more like the saying that says something like I may not have all my ducks in a row, and I don’t know where they are, and some might be pigeons.  Can you relate?

Since we’re going to be spending time together each week, I thought I should probably tell you a little about the woman writing these letters.  I met Nathan when I was 17.  We were married in 2000.  I always joked that it was so he could easily remember how many years we have been married.  We have three amazing, adult children whom I love so much.

I have to take a minute to give a few very important things about parenting.  I know there will be so much more in the years to come, but I have to say it now!!  Everyone says how “terrible” the twos are.  Don’t get too concerned about two ~ three is worse!  If you ask me what age was my favorite, I might have to say it was in those two-four years of age.  (You may be questioning my sanity at this point, and that’s okay because I do it often enough myself).  Finally, every stage has its own struggles and precious moments.  Take the time to recognize the good in each stage and enjoy it.  The time will be gone before you know it!

These days, I have the incredible privilege of being an entrepreneur, speaker, mentor, and two-time Amazon bestselling author. More than anything, I’m passionate about helping women discover the confidence that comes from knowing who they are and whose they are.  Whether we’re talking about faith, health, or purpose, my heart is to help women become equipped and empowered to walk confidently in the calling God has placed on their lives.

I’m excited to get started with these letters, which will be a collection of what I’m learning, where God is stretching me, what He’s teaching me, and the everyday moments where His faithfulness shows up.

So thank you for being here at the very beginning.

Cheers to beginning before we’re ready.  I have a feeling God has some beautiful things ahead, and I’m grateful to be on this journey with you.

Love ya!
Laura
